STEM EDUCATION

At Virginia Tech Motorsports we value the community around us. To help give back we participate in STEM education events. So far in 2025, we have participated in multiple STEM events in the Roanoke area, and we were honored to host the first ever science fair at Unity Braxton Middle School, an underprivileged school in Prince William County. There, we explained our design process and even demonstrated the car to students. At all of these events, we promote STEM education to the next generation by helping students see real-world applications of what they learn in the classroom. These outreach efforts strengthen our connection with local communities and inspire students to explore opportunities in STEM fields.

OUtreach

A big part of Virginia Tech Motorsports is outreach both on and off campus. On campus our team had the opportunity to attend Virginia Techs ‘IGNITE Event Excellence Innovation Showcase. At ‘IGNITE we learned from keynote speaker Lori Waran, President of NASCAR’s Richmond Raceway, and shared our work with attendees. Off campus, we went to the Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway, where President Waran and her team welcomed us to display our car and technology to thousands of fans. We also represented Virginia Tech at SAE’s Government/Industry Meeting in Washington, D.C., where we earned 1st place in a mock design presentation and contributed to discussions on the future of mobility, sustainability, and engineering innovation. VTM proudly showcases Hokie engineering, builds meaningful industry relationships, and continues to push the limits of what students can achieve in the world of motorsports.

PHILANTHROPY

In December 2025 members of Virginia Tech Motorsports recently teamed up with a dedicated local woodworker, Mr. Bill St. Pierre, and other community members in Floyd, VA, to deliver critical support to those affected by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. Our team helped transport multiple mobile homes, first aid supplies, and essential necessities to families who have lost so much in this devastating natural disaster. This effort would not have been possible without the incredible coordination and tireless work of Mr. St. Pierre, whose commitment to helping others has been nothing short of inspiring. He has set a crucial goal of raising $900,000 through his GoFundMe campaign to continue providing vital shelter and resources to those in need.
